This is one of the first parks in Japan to be designated as a city park
in 1873. The black pine trees blend harmoniously with the azaleas around
the pond, and there are many historical monuments within the park grounds,
which are landscaped in the Dutch style.
There are also six "elevated gardens" built six meters above
the ground next to the Niigata City Performing Arts Center. Using the bridges
you can visit all the facilities and walk all the way to the Shinano Riverside
